Frequently Asked Questions

You can plead no contest and pay the ticket, request an online ticket review or plead not guilty.

Paying a ticket is considered a plea of no contest which means that you do not admit or deny the charges. A no contest plea is as known as a Nolo Contendere plea. This has the same legal effect as pleading guilty. If you pay your ticket, it will be reported to the Connecticut Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. For out of state drivers, your home state will be notified of the  case disposition by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.

A plea of not guilty will trigger your case to be transferred to the Geographic court. If you plead not guilty, you will be sent a notice of transfer from the Centralized Infractions Bureau by mail. You will have to attend court, or in many cases, your traffic ticket attorney will attend court on your behalf. If your ticket was issued in locations where there are regional motor vehicle courts, you may be able to provide a response to the prosecutor who may nolle or not your case. In short, a nolle means no prosecution. If your case is nolled, the charges will be dropped. If not, you will have to appear in court.
